Peritoneal dialysis is a type of dialysis therapy that uses the patient's own abdominal lining, or peritoneum, as a filter. A special solution is introduced into the peritoneal cavity through a catheter, and this solution draws out the waste and excess water from the bloodstream. The solution is then drained from the cavity and the process is repeated. The main advantage of this type of dialysis is that it can be performed at home without having to visit a dialysis center.

Dialysis therapy is a lifesaving treatment for patients with kidney failure, and it helps them to lead a normal and healthy life. It is important, however, to note that dialysis is just one part of a larger kidney disease treatment plan. Other treatments such as lifestyle changes and medications may also be recommended to help manage the condition.
