英语单词correspondent可以用来指“通信者，旁证，记者，通讯员”。它可以作及物动词，也可以作不及物动词。

作及物动词时，意思是指“与……(相符，相应)”，表示两个事物在本质上吻合、一致。例如：

The two statements don't correspond.（这两个句子不吻合。）

作不及物动词时，意思是指“誉作……，担任……（通讯员，记者等）”，即担任通讯员、记者等职业。例如：

He is a correspondent for a major newspaper.（他是一家报纸的通讯员。）
