英语单词conformational一般用来指“构象”，它指物质或者分子结构形成的构型，如分子内平衡态构型、非平衡构型、新产物构型等。
一般来说，conformational具有两个关联意义，即构型选择和构型变化。构型选择是指在给定的有限条件下，物质或分子可能具有多种可能的构象，其中构象稳定性较高的称为最终构型。构型变化是指物质或分子在原有构型基础上，受外界影响而发生改变，如温度、压强等参数的变化，可能使最终构型发生变化或者消失，也可能使更多的稳定构象出现。
conformational有时也可作形容词，用来描述事物的外表特征，如果一种形象特别规则、某种空间构型特别好的分子，就可以称它为conformational。
