Asteroid（小行星），指的是太阳系中的一大类天体，通常由石质或石质-冰混合物构成，体积也较小，大约在500米到1000千米之间。小行星一般可以分为三类：内部小行星，外部小行星和复合小行星。

内部小行星属于太阳系内部，位于太阳内循环轨道上，其中最大的为木星的卫星欧罗巴，最小的是泰坦小行星等。

外部小行星则位于太阳系外，一般在邻近的行星系统或星系中，一般分布在Kuiper带和欧特克环中，这两处环境中的小行星以冰质组成，由于距离太远，从地球观测则很难探索到。

最后，复合小行星是内部小行星和外部小行星的混合物，其中大部分位于太阳系内部，但也有少部分位于太阳系外，一般以石质和冰质混成。
